Tomorrow Man/Woman

It’s great to get this type of positive feedback from one of our Year 10 parents:

“Wow!! This is amazing - reading the girl's modules, I think it is of paramount significance for all ages to participate in all 3 modules!!!

I can see how these activities could be so vital to all of them in relation to themselves and others around them!!!

Last week all students participated in workshops that:

  • aims to question the confines and expectations of modern womanhood.
  • train young women how to use their voice, speak up with gravity and engage actively, with purpose, in all areas of their lives.
  • Explore the impact of rigid masculine gender stereotypes and expectations. Learn a variety of tools and skills to improve the state of man, build stronger connections between one another, their peers and those they care about.
  • Discuss toxic behaviours, and the current state of man according to society and the media. Explore how 'showing up' impacts those around them and practice being able to 'feel the burn' by taking ownership for relationships that they are committed to improving.

Student Leadership

The Student Leadership Group consists of students from all years 10, 11 and 12. They meet regularly to discuss a range of topics and plan projects and events that are representative of student voice. Recent feedback from students has indicated that they would like a broader range of activities and facilities at the College. The Student Leadership Group has taken this on board and will be working towards planning and coordinating a number of new projects and initiatives.

What we are reading in Student Services

GRIT – Why passion and excellence are the secrets to success – Angela Duckworth.

”Angela Duckworth was teaching math when she noticed something intriguing: The most successful students weren’t always the ones who displayed a natural aptitude; rather, they displayed something she came to think of as grit. Later, as a graduate student in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, she defined the term — a combination of passion and perseverance for a singularly important goal — and created a tool to measure it: the “grit scale,” which predicted outcomes like who would graduate from West Point or win the National Spelling Bee.” New York Times
