Captain's Corner

Woah, what a term it has been! Such fun-filled, exciting and productive weeks of learning at GWPS. It only seems like yesterday, we were packing our bags on the first day back, ready to learn. But days have flashed beyond our eyes, and now we are nearing the end of the term. As I said before, it’s been pretty productive in these past few weeks. We’ve had so much going on!

On March 21st, sixteen of our Year Fives and Sixes took part in a Mass Dance rehearsal for the VSSS (Victorian State School Spectacular). They went to Mont Albert Primary School, where they actively and eagerly took part in different sets of dances, working up a sweat. They represented our school with pride, and sure had a lot of fun.

Now, you may have seen this, but outside, near the handball courts, something is building itself up. There has been an addition of rocks, and sturdy fences, with large, beautiful poles shooting from the ground with our values on them. Well, GWPS has some exciting news. We’re adding an indigenous garden! It shows how our school values the indigenous culture, and respects it with pride and dignity.

Of course, we would also like a touch from the students of GWPS in the garden, so everyone can see what amazing learners we are. So, anyone who would like to participate can take part in an indigenous art competition! It can be on A3 size paper, and relating to the indigenous culture, but don’t be afraid to get creative! They must be placed in the box (in the Art Room) by Friday 28th April . Isn’t this really exciting!

On Friday 31st of March, our school’s team of District Athletes are going to be competing against other schools, representing our school with almighty pride. Good luck to all the participants!

Wow, we have a lot going on at GWPS! These next few weeks will be action packed, exhilarating weeks of learning. As we approach the last few weeks of Term one, we can see that the remainder of the year is going to be spectacular! I can’t wait to see what’s up next.

Thank you for reading.
