This term in Reading we have been determining the importance of information we read in books. 

VOCABULARY

Determine: decide the important main ideas in the text. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to read one of their dot books and discuss the important main ideas in the text. The important parts should include information about the characters, setting, problem and solution. 

For example, 'Harry is walking in the forest' is important as it is the setting. However, 'Harry likes chocolate' is not important, this is interesting.
