Fairy Tales in Prep

This term the Prep students have been learning about fairy tales. Students have explored various fairy tales including Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and The Princess and the Frog. Students have been able to identify typical character traits of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ characters. They were provided opportunities to create their own heroes and villains. They identified the problem and solution in each story. Students enjoyed retelling the stories using puppets and created story maps to show the sequence of events.

Celebrating Victory at Craigieburn South District Championships!

Greetings, incredible athletes, proud parents, and fervent supporters of Our Lady's Primary School! We're absolutely thrilled to share some exhilarating news that will surely ignite a wave of joy. Our school's athletic prowess was on full display at the Craigieburn South District Athletics Championships, which took place at the Meadowglen International Athletics Track this past Wednesday. And guess what? We emerged as the CHAMPIONS of the district!

The Triumph: With just a limited amount of training under their belts, a remarkable team of 52 of our students fearlessly took to the track and field. Their determination, coupled with their innate talent, shone brightly as they displayed their skills, resilience, and remarkable teamwork. The result? A resounding 1st place finish that exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship.

Unforgettable Performances: From heart-pounding track races to awe-inspiring field events, our students left an indelible mark on each event. Despite the limited training time, their performances were nothing short of exceptional. The cheers from the stands reverberated as they sprinted, leaped, and threw their way to success.

A Remarkable Journey Continues: But wait, the excitement doesn't halt here! The journey to athletic glory continues as approximately 20 of our outstanding athletes have secured their spots to represent Our Lady's Primary School at the Woodlands Division Athletics Championships. These champions will return to the Meadowglen International Athletics Track on the 5th of September to compete against other schools in the division.

Gratitude to Our Supporters: A heartfelt thank you goes out to the parents who willingly stepped in to support us during the event. Your presence, encouragement, and involvement added a layer of community spirit that was truly heartwarming. We couldn't have achieved this without you!

Keep Reaching for the Stars: As we move forward to the Woodlands Division Athletics Championships, let's remember that each step taken, each jump made, and each throw launched is a testament to the hard work put in, even with limited training time. To our athletes, remember that it's not just about the medals; it's about the joy of participation, the friendships forged, and the lessons learned.

We want to salute the remarkable sportsmanship and enthusiasm that define Our Lady's Primary School. To our athletes, keep the flame alive! Keep practicing, keep pushing your boundaries, and keep shining bright like the stars you are. Congratulations once again, and let's carry the same energy, determination, and passion to the Woodlands Division Athletics Championships on the 5th of September! Go Team Our Lady's!

Regional Soccer Championships

What an incredible day it was as our Year 6 soccer team took on the Northern Metropolitan Region Soccer Championships at the Darebin International Sports Centre. The excitement was palpable, and our team's performance was nothing short of awe-inspiring!

Rallying for Victory! In their first game, our team faced a tough start, trailing 1-0 at halftime. But the second half saw an incredible turnaround as they rallied together with exceptional teamwork. The result? A stunning 2-1 victory that left us all cheering in delight! Thrills and Spills! The second game was a rollercoaster of emotions, with our team leading 2-1 at halftime. The game ended with a narrow 3-2 loss, but the resilience and determination our players displayed were absolutely thrilling. They truly left their hearts on the field!

Courageous Spirits! The third game was a true test of our team's courage, as they faced potential Victorian State Champions. Despite a 4-0 loss, our players showed unwavering sportsmanship and fought with incredible heart. Their dedication is truly commendable!

Unity in Sportsmanship! Let's take a moment to appreciate the sportsmanship that flourished on and off the field. The camaraderie between all six competing teams was heartwarming and a testament to the spirit of sports. Such moments remind us of the values that sports instill in us all.

A Shining Third Place! Drumroll, please! Our school emerged with an outstanding achievement – a well-deserved third place overall! This accomplishment speaks volumes about the commitment, hard work, and passion of our remarkable team. We couldn't be prouder!

A Grateful Shout-Out! A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing coaches, Miss Mikhael and Mr. Wright. Your dedication and guidance have been instrumental in our team's success. You've not only coached them in soccer but also in sportsmanship and perseverance. But that's not all – we owe a big thank you to our incredible parent helpers and supporters. Your presence on the sidelines, your cheers, and your unwavering encouragement have meant the world to our team. Your support truly makes a difference! As we conclude this exhilarating chapter, let's remember that sports are about more than just the game; they're about character, teamwork, and the bonds we form. Our Year 6 soccer team has embodied these qualities, and we're excited to see where their journeys take them. Until next time, keep kicking, keep playing, and keep smiling!

Craigieburn Library Class Visits

Students in Prep and Year 1 will be visiting the Hume Craigieburn Library next term. For your child to be able to borrow a book they must be a member of the library. If your child isn't a member already the weekend would be a great time for you to visit the library and become a member. To sign up, you need to visit the library in person and provide identification with your current address. If your child has a membership card but has not borrowed within the last 12 months, their library card will be expired. We look forward to the library visits next term and making use of this amazing community resource.
