Principal's Message

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed no hope at all."

Dear Brigidine Community,

Welcome to an eventful and exhilarating Term Three at our wonderful College! We are absolutely delighted to share some of the most remarkable highlights and achievements that have made this period truly special.

Embracing Indigenous Culture: NAIDOC Week was a vibrant celebration of our commitment to Indigenous culture and unity. The week commenced with a moving Smoking Ceremony, followed by a heartwarming Welcome to Country, beautifully presented by the esteemed Aunty Marge. The powerful words of Kylie Captain, a proud Gamilaroi woman, ignited a passion for education and authorship among all who attended. Furthermore, Aunty Marge's engaging Year 10 Food Technology class on damper-making provided an enriching experience to celebrate and learn from the richness of Indigenous traditions.

A Journey Across Continents: Our World Day Youth Pilgrims have been on an awe-inspiring journey across Europe, delving into its rich history and diverse cultures. Despite the challenges of the scorching heat, their spirits remained undeterred as they soaked in the wonders of Italy and excitedly anticipate the upcoming World Youth Day in Lisbon. Witnessing millions of young people coming together with the Pope to celebrate faith is an experience that will undoubtedly shape their perspectives and life paths.

Sportsmanship and Grit: Our SCS Senior Netball Team exemplified true sportsmanship and grit during the Championship game, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed their determination and dedication. They may not have claimed victory, but they won the admiration and pride of the entire College community with their outstanding performance.

Celebrating Excellence: We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Yasmeen Janschek, our College Captain, for her well-deserved selection in the NSWCCC U18 Netball Squad. We wish her the best of luck as she competes in the prestigious NSW All Schools Championship on September 12. Her achievements are a testament to the talent and dedication of our students.

Empowering Our Students: The Bully Zero workshops for our Year 7 and 8 students were a valuable opportunity to address relevant issues and create a safe and inclusive environment. We appreciate the support of our parents and guardians in fostering an environment where our students can thrive and feel supported.

The Journey Towards Success: As our Year 12 students engage with their HSC Trials, we want to take a moment to acknowledge their relentless efforts and exemplary conduct. Girls, your hard work and dedication have inspired all of us, and we have full confidence in your abilities to achieve greatness. Keep pushing forward, and know that we are here to support you every step of the way.

Before we conclude, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your continued support and active participation in our College community.

Thank you, and we eagerly look forward to another exciting and fulfilling term ahead!

Warm regards,

Sharyn Quirk
