2nd September: 4pm Mass and 5.30pm Mass
3rd September: 9.30am Mass
9th September: 4pm Mass and 5.30pm Mass
10th September: 9.30am Mass
Please keep these candidates in your prayers as they begin their preparation for this Sacrament.
You are all most welcome to come along to the Family Mass this Saturday evening at 5.30pm. The students from Year 3 will be leading the readings and our Pope Francis students from Year 6 will be assisting in various ways throughout the Liturgy. It would be lovely if you could join us !!
Last Tuesday - 8th August - was the feast day of St Mary MacKillop - Australia’s first saint. A beautiful Liturgy for K-6 was led by the Year 5 students. During the Liturgy we were reminded of how she dedicated her life to education and to caring for the poor and disadvantaged, particularly in rural and remote areas of Australia.
Some beautiful and wise sayings of St Mary MacKillop …..
Next Tuesday students from Years 3-6 will be attending the 9.15am Parish Mass for the Feast of the Assumption. On this day we remember and celebrate Mary being ‘assumed’ into Heaven, body and soul. It is a ‘solemnity’ which means that it is a very special and important feast day that is celebrated in the Catholic faith.
WYD is drawing to a close and with an estimated 310,000 people it was certainly a very special time for all involved. The event was officially opened on August 1 with an open-air Mass celebrated by Manuel Clemente in Eduardo VII Park in Lisbon, Portugal. WYD takes place every 2 -3 years and is widely attended by pilgrims throughout the world. This year Ms Kennedy - one of our Year 3 Teachers attended WYD and we look forward to the experiences and wisdom she will be able to share with us on her return.
