Gardenvale Greenies

For more than half a dozen years, our school community has beautifully improved with our commitment to minimise waste and, in most instances, completely refuse waste. It’s been fabulous.
Remember, we have no bins at Gardenvale Primary School except for just one bin at each campus on a Friday.
We have, however, noticed a bit more litter in our school yard just recently. Please continue to be totally rubbish-free with snacks and lunches. If any student does bring ‘single-use’ food packaging to school, this packaging must return home in the student’s school bag at the end of that day. It is that simple.
Zest will do their best to provide rubbish-free lunch orders Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays when a student puts a labelled empty container in their classroom’s lunch-order basket. Lunch-orders are certainly available Fridays, just not ‘rubbish-free’ lunch-orders on Fridays.
Finally, here’s some exciting and excellent news. The terrific television series program ‘War on Waste’ resumes with the first episode of Season 3 tonight on ABC television. We urge you to watch this series as a family. If you have not viewed Season 1 or Season 2 you should also catch up on them!
Here is a link to ABCiview if you cannot watch the program live; it may be later than bedtime for most children.

The inset photo is of Kiko and Elliot, our Year 6 Environment Captains, holding the much desired Golden Lunchbox. This trophy is awarded at the Senior Campus assembly, each Monday, to the classroom with the most rubbish-free students.
Let’s keep taking action and sharing the positivity to sustain our pristine natural world. The people of Gardenvale Primary School are making a difference!
