Year 2

In Year 2 Maths Innovation, students will be exploring the traits that successful innovators employ: Courageous, Determined, Reflective, Collaborative and Visionary. They will develop an understanding of the meaning of these words, and the actions that demonstrate the use of these characteristics. Students will explore number puzzles that emphasise the connections between the four operations of addition, division, multiplication, division. Students will be introduced to the ‘CUBES’ and ‘RUCSAC strategy to help them understand how to solve complex worded problems.  

 

Year 6  

In Year 6 Maths Innovation, students will deepen their understanding of the importance of developing the Innovative Characteristics of Courageous, Determined, Reflective, Collaborative and Visionary. They will evaluate their strengths and identify an area for growth during the term. Students will explore number sequences, number patterns and how these can translate into a variety of representations. They will have the opportunity to find and enhance connections between the various topics within mathematics and between other disciplines of learning.
