This Sacrament is the third and final Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church.

We pray for all of our Confirmation candidates.

Mary Mackillop Feast Day

The Feast of Saint Mary of the Cross, also known as Mary MacKillop, was celebrated on Tuesday August 8th. We celebrated as a school through a liturgy led by Year 5 & 6 students.

Mary's Story

Mary was born in Victoria to Scottish parents. She was the oldest of eight children and worked to help her family when she was young. At 24, she decided to dedicate her life to God and called herself "Mary of the Cross."

Mary and a priest named Fr Julian Tenison-Woods opened a school in a stable in Penola, South Australia. They wanted to help children who didn't have much. More women joined them, and they started a group called The Sisters of St Joseph. Mary and the Sisters helped poor people by going to where help was needed and living with them. Mary traveled all over Australia. She had a stroke in 1902 and was sick until she passed away on August 8, 1909.

In 1995, Pope John Paul II called Mary MacKillop "blessed," and in 2010, Pope Benedict XVI said she was a Saint. She became Australia’s first Saint on October 17th, 2010.

Mary MacKillop's life reminds us to be kind, forgiving, and determined, even when things are tough. She made a big difference and is still remembered for her goodness.

Feast of the Assumption

On Tuesday August 15th, the Church commemorates the Feast Day of the Assumption of Our Lady. According to our beliefs, this day marks the Holy Mother's transition into heavenly glory, as she is believed to have been taken up body and soul into Heaven after completing her earthly journey. On this day we especially thank Mary for her service.
