Mr Irwin's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Student Learning Conferences Friday July 28th

At present students are busy preparing for student learning conferences. These take place on Friday 28th of July and are a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase aspects of their learning from Semester 1 with their families.

I have attached each learning areas menu. The content that will be discussed between each year level differs depending on the content knowledge units and numeracy topics they have been discussing but will still contain 5 minutes for students to share an aspect of their literacy learning, 5 minutes to discuss an aspect of their numeracy learning and 5 minutes to reflect on their wellbeing at school.

There are some important reminders regarding student led conferences to be aware of. Firstly, booking for conferences are available via the Sentral Parent Portal, and student attendance is only required on the day for their learning conference. The attached menus dictate what students will be sharing in that allotted conference time. Discussions of school reports or other issues don’t form part of the time allotted for student learning conferences and therefore time needs to be set aside via appointment or Sentral correspondence if you would like to discuss matters such as these.

Students are preparing hard for these conferences to celebrate their learning with you, please make the time to book a learning conference time and celebrate in their efforts!

2024 Foundation Enrolments Due

The same Friday, July 28th also marks the closing date for Foundation enrolments for 2024. Forms and supporting evidence can be emailed or returned to the office by the closing date. If you have any questions or need any support completing enrolment forms do not hesitate to reach out.

The Morning Message

Have you ever heard students talk about the Morning Message and wonder what it is? Maybe it’s time I posted a bit of an explanation in the newsletter. Each morning we use Webex and just after the bell music I have a morning meeting with all the classes across the school hosted by myself and our school leaders. In this morning message we are able to relay the following information;

Our weekly values focus and expected behaviours, any announcements about upcoming special events, any reminders about expected play or routines across the school and also our weekly GEM (Gratitude, Empathy Mindfulness) focus. This 5 minutes time is well spent to ensure every student has a consistent understanding of expected behaviours, routines and upcoming activities within the school.

Bye for now, have a great week!
