From Principal Steve - Naplan Results & Parent Payments 2023
Dear parents and carers,
NAPLAN testing provides information about how students are progressing in school and how they compare to their peers across the country. Included below, we have summarised our Grade 3 and 5 NAPLAN results for 2023 compared with network schools and other similar schools.
Our school is a member of the Beachside network of schools that includes all government primary schools from Port Melbourne to Cheltenham along the Port Phillip Bay. There are 19 primary schools in our network. ‘Similar schools’ are schools serving students from statistically similar backgrounds to our school.
Our 2023 NAPLAN results demonstrate significant growth in student achievement in reading, writing, numeracy, spelling, as well as grammar and punctuation. In most NAPLAN domains, our Grade 3 and 5 students scored above network schools and similar schools for the exceeding and strong proficiencies. Click on this link for more information about NAPLAN.
We extend our congratulations and sincere gratitude to all members of our community – our students, teachers, the learning support team, other staff as well as parents & carers - who have worked in partnership to maximise student learning in our school. Your collaboration, partnership, and hard work has significantly enhanced learning for students at Brighton Primary School.
Parent Payment Fees 2023
Thank you to those families that have already paid their Parent Payment Fee for this school year. If your family have not yet paid your Parent Payment Fee for 2023 to support teaching and learning at Brighton Primary School, we would ask that you make this financial contribution as soon as possible. Our staff are working incredibly hard to maximise student (and teacher) learning while also improving our classroom learning spaces and other school facilities. The full parent payment fee of $924.00 for 2023 is less than the cost of four caffe lattes per week for an entire year.
Brighton Primary School understands that some families may experience financial difficulty and offers a range of support options, including:
- The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund
- The school’s second-hand uniform shop
- State Schools Relief Fund (SSRF)
For a confidential discussion about accessing these services, or if you would like to discuss alternative payment arrangements, contact: Diane O’Connor – Business Manager
