Change of Preference
Change of preference (CoP) gives you the chance to add, delete and reorder your preferences. If you receive an offer, you will be offered the course highest on your preference list you are eligible for - you have met the ATAR and selection criteria requirements. It is also the last chance you have to make sure your preference list reflects what you would like to study in the future.
When can I change my preferences?
You can apply to change your preferences any time between 10:00am Monday 21 November – 12:00pm Tuesday 20 December. You will be able to change your preferences again after the main round of offers on 18 January, but most course offers are made in this round.
How do I change my preferences?
You can change your preferences as many times as you like during the CoP period. If you delete certain courses you will not be able to add them into your preference list again (e.g. medicine)
- Using your VTAC ID and pin number , log into your VTAC account: www.vtac.edu.au
- In your VTAC account, click on the Change Undergraduate Preference link.
- Change your preference and be sure to click submit.
TIPS & HINTS
Research your options. Go to CoP information sessions at the institutions of your choice. Use the course search link on the VTAC website.
New courses: If adding new courses, make sure you meet the pre requisites and have not missed any important dates to hand in supplementary forms or book interviews.
Order is important. Put the courses that you really want to get into at the top of your preference list. The ATAR cut-off’s won’t be determined until January 2017, and could go below the 2016 cut-offs.
Plan B: Add in plan B courses as backups in case you don’t reach the ATAR you need. Research TAFE to university pathway courses, foundation and pathway programs at each university and courses with lower ATAR cut-offs, which can provide a possible second year transfer.
