What is a 'leader'?

What is a ‘leader’? Some say that a leader must be able to delegate responsibility effectively, others say that leaders should roll up their sleeves and get amongst the action. Some say they should be consultative team players, others say that they should be the ones making the tough decisions. Some say that leaders should be engaging public speakers, others say that they should focus on empowering others to speak up.
The truth is that there is no one definition of ‘leadership’ or what ‘effective leadership’ looks like. We all possess qualities which allow us to be leaders in our own right and in our own way, at home, at school and in own community.
This year, many students took the initiative to apply for leadership positions within our College for 2017. We were overwhelmed with the calibre of applicants and sincerely thank those put their name forward. It truly is a testament to the mature, forward-thinking and compassionate nature of the students at our College.
