BroSpeak
Success for students
Cowra High’s 2017 BroSpeak program concluded with a celebration and presentation of certificates last term.
The school’s Aboriginal Education Officer (AEO) and joint co-ordinator of the course designed to improve the skills of Indigenous boys (targeting Year 7 this year), Rodney Eastwood, called it a success.
First developed in 2011, BroSpeak combines cultural connection with personal growth sessions such as self-esteem, goal setting, leadership skills and conflict resolution. These topics are reinforced through a guest mentor who discusses their personal journey to the students with a few pieces of advice.
Finishing touches to a BroSpeak didgeridoo project will be made in the coming weeks.
Many thanks to our mentors this year, Marc McLeish, Lewis Beale, Dean Murray and Snr Constable Peter Holmes.
