Byrne Shield Cricket

Over the last 3 weeks, our Senior Boys cricket team have been playing some outstanding cricket which culminated in them reaching the final of the Combined Wagga Wagga High School Byrne Shield T20 cricket competition. In the final, we came up against a strong team from TRAC.

Bowling first, we restricted TRAC to 103 from their 20 overs. Some fine bowling from Charlie Munn (2/13) and Sam Smith (3/23) saw wickets keep falling at a steady pace.

Our batsmen struggled with the inconsistency of the wicket and we lost some quick wickets at the top of the order. Our tail wagged and got us to a total of 72. In the end, we just weren’t good enough to chase down the runs. Well done to Bailey Jones (16) and Matt Howe (15) for their batting efforts.

Fingers crossed we can go one better next year.
