Prayer for World Teachers' Day - Friday 25 October

I remember many years ago driving behind a car and thinking about the bumper sticker that was displayed. It read, “If you can read this, thank a teacher”.  For all of us, teachers have played a very significant and important role in our growing up and our ongoing life-long learning.

I often reflect on the dedicated and hardworking staff at St Pius X College and see firsthand their expertise in the classroom, in working pastorally with the boys, coaching them, developing them, imparting them with  skills in their music and the list goes on.

I found this beautiful prayer for teachers and share it with you:

A Prayer for World Teachers' Day

Giver of all wisdom and greatest of all teachers,

look upon our teachers with love .

Bless their hearts for they rejoice when we succeed

and encourage us when we fail .

And bless them with gentle patience

for the path of learning is never easy .

Kindle a spirit and passion in them;

it is the flame that ignites the love of learning in us .

Help them see the potential in each student.

Inspire them to touch the future.

Bless our teachers who have come before

for their work endures to this day .

Let the light of your example shine upon all teachers

to build up with their words,

to love with their mind,

to share with their heart.

Amen

Year 12 HSC

The HSC exams continue and they have been very challenging but fair examination papers. Please continue to keep the boys in your prayers.

New Eucharistic Ministers for St Pius X College & Mercy College

On Tuesday 22 October Fr Jim McKeon, our Parish Priest from Our Lady of Dolours, conducted a full day training for students from Year 10  in becoming Eucharistic Ministers. The students are outstanding in every way and their faith is inspirational.  Thank you to Mr Adrian Brannan for his leadership.

The following SPX students will be Commissioned at our Closing Mass for Years 5-10 on Thursday 5 December 2019:

James Bellenger, Joel Chand, Liam Chang, Ben Christensen, Jamie Corcoran, Douglas Daniels, Ben Giles, Liam Kinna, Lucas Makarwicz, Luke Massa, Lachlan Onslow, William Thomson, Thomas Van Dijk, Nicholas Ward and Matthew Watts.

Please see full details and photos on the Mission & Identity Page.

Year 9 Camps

The Year 9 camps have been excellent and the students are enjoying our shared facility (with CBHS Lewisham) at Wamberal. The camp helps the boys in their relationships, personal development, physical growth and their faith life. It also builds spirit and teamwork.

I am very grateful to all the staff involved and particularly thank Ms Ramsey, Mr Sean Brannan, Ms Waters, Mr O’Byrne, Mr Olson and Mr Kovacic for the camps being held this week.
