Foundation News
How fast is Term 3 going!
There was great excitement in the Foundation rooms last week, as Linda from Henny Penny Hatching brought in eggs and three, day old chicks for the students to observe the hatching process. Each day new chicks have hatched and the students were lucky enough to observe for themselves the process of a chick hatching from its egg. The chicks will be leaving us this coming Friday and returning to Linda’s farm. Many questions and wonderings have been raised by the students and bit by bit we are finding out the answers.
This Friday is the Book Week parade in the Hall and Hot food day. The students can wear their costumes to school but please make sure they are wearing their runners with the costume.
PLW welcomes Nadia Ascenzo to their classroom. Nadia is completing her final teaching placement as part of her studies for her Master of Teaching from ACU.
Next Thursday 29th August we are off to the Melbourne Zoo to look closely at the different types of habitats animals live in. Parents are welcome to meet us at the Zoo next week.
Have a lovely week!
Year 1/2 News
How wonderful were our excursions to Shore Reserve, Croc’s Indoor and Hay’s Outdoor playgrounds! The students had enjoyable days playing and of course, learning about different playground designs. They will be comparing and contrasting the designs of various playgrounds. Enjoy some of the many photographs taken! Thank you to all the parents who came along to enjoy the day. A big thank you to Annette, Warrick, Rob, Melanie, Sandra, Athena, Michael, Christine and Lydia who assisted the teachers all day to make the day run smoothly! THANK YOU
Year 3/4 News
On Wednesday August 7th, the 3/4 students, teachers and parent volunteers visited Highpoint Shopping Centre. The students got the opportunity to investigate how different restaurants are designed and were able to observe and record a great deal of useful information. We visited La Porchetta, the Pancake Parlour, Schnitz, Nandos, Grill’d, San Churro and Dumplings Plus. The staff in each of these restaurants happily answered the students’ questions and did everything they could to help them with their research. Each group had money for food and the staff were very generous in providing the food the students ordered, with many adding a few little extras to help make the students’ experience so memorable. Each of the 3/4 classes will now set about designing their own class restaurant which will open during week 9 of this term. We will give more details when the students have finalised their restaurant designs. Thank you again to all the parents who helped with our excursion.
