HISTORY OF THE AWARDS
Since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has grown from a small Sydney-based group to a national organisation which exerts a profound influence on children’s books. It promotes the literary experience for children and affirms the quality of some of Australia’s most creative people to boost to their capacity to devote time to their craft.
What's Happening This Week?
Tuesday- Hall 6.30-7.30pm, Snuggle Up and Read
Students and their families are invited to come along to hear some of the teacher read some of the shortlisted books. It will also be the first opportunity to purchase books from the Book Fair.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the book fair will be open every morning between 8.30-9.00am and Wednesday and Thursday afternoon 3.15-4.00pm for purchasing books. A percentage of the sales, allows the school to purchase new book for the library. Students will have an opportunity to attend the book fair during the school to to complete a wish list for them to bring home and discuss.
Thursday Author, Kim Lardner will be visiting the students. He is an Australian children's author, illustrator, and storyteller. I have included a short video of Kim which illustrates his wonderful ability as a storyteller.
We hope through exposing students to the authors such as, Michael Wagner and Kim Lardner they will appreciate their creativity and aspire to build their own literary skills.
Friday Book Parade
Staff and students will parade to show us their wonderful costumes in the hall at 9.00am. Mr Troy will be our Master of Ceremony for the parade. Families are welcome to stay and if they are brave may also like to dress up and parade!
