Working Bee

Had a fantastic turn out to our working bee last weekend. The main focus was to tidy up the school grounds for the upcoming fete. Huge thanks to all those who gave up their time to assist, especially to the parent that donated the gardening gloves and the 3 staff members that came along.   The grounds are looking resplendent.

Just a friendly reminder to all parents and students to not bring rubbish to school or leave it on the school grounds, please take it home with you.

Solar Car and Boat Competition

Last weekend, some 5/6 students from Syndal South competed in the Model Solar Vehicle Challenge. The school had five boats and three cars competing in the competition which was held at Scienceworks. Although it was not as sunny as it could be, all the teams competed enthusiastically.

The five boats names were Shooting Star, Sponge Bob Solar Pants, Swish Swish Faster Than A Fish, The Icebreaker and Space J.A.M.P.S.  On Saturday, the five teams arrived at Scienceworks. They first had to go through the scrutineering. The first few races that they competed in were the Knockout Rounds. All the boats did extremely well in this round, so they got into the top eight, going through to compete for first, second, third and fourth place. Sadly, none of the boats came first, second, third or fourth but they came extremely close. All of the Syndal South students were outstanding and showed great sportsmanship towards others, especially after their rounds were completed.

The three cars that competed were named Carmouflage, Batteries Not Included and Light Speed.  On Saturday, the cars competed in eight round robins. Luckily, one car from Syndal South got into the Knockout Rounds which was held on Sunday. That car was Light Speed and they competed in all four rounds for the knockouts but unfortunately, they lost all of them. The cars did outstanding performances as well as well as showing great courage.

We would like to thank Ian Gardner for giving us useful information to make our boats and cars run well. Thank you to Mrs GP and Mrs Freeman for supporting us for the journey and thank you to the parents who supported their kids with the program. All the students had excellent behaviour on both days.
