Congratulations:  Junior State Gymnastics

Congratulations to John Carroll Year 7 and Chris Dimos Year 9 for their performances at the Junior State Gymnastics Championships held last weekend. John was placed 1st Overall in the Level 6 Under Division and Chris was placed 2nd in the Level 5 Open Division.

Mr Mark Pawlak

Basketball

Thank-you to everyone who helped get our season off and running on Saturday. It was a smooth start from my point of view. We had some great matches against ourselves on Saturday at Oxford Falls. All the D teams played the E teams and some of our opens teams locked horns in their first round matches. I’m happy to say all games were played in good spirit. There were great wins and some humbling losses across all our age groups and divisions.

Game of the day: The Firsts start their season off with a hard fought win over St Patrick’s.

Deserves a mention:

  • Murray Wood and Liam Barnier - 13Cs.
  • Finley Peake, Min Foy and Raffaele Fiore – 13Es

NSTA Tennis

A few drops of rain and an overcast start to the day did not deter the enthusiasm today. Pius had an amazing start to the day winning 7 of the 8 games played. SPX 11 played an exciting game against Reddam 6 with 2 tie-breakers deciding the game would go to SPX 11, well done! Excellent rallies were seen in the SPX 15 vs Redlands 24 game with a close score which just saw Pius come out on top. Thank you to Max Leo, Jayden Chan, Nick Arena and Cameron Fernandopulle who came early to mentor and umpire the green ball games, your help was much appreciated.

The 10am session, although quiet saw some great tennis being played. SPX 4 – Max Leo and Jayden Chan blitzed the opposition winning all 3 sets as did Antony Autore and Josh Du Moulin from SPX 17. SPX 10 showed their great teamwork in the doubles; however, SPX 8 played the better singles matches and won overall.
