LEADING TEACHER'S REPORT

Shirley Mangiameli

Here at EEPS we are all continually striving to provide opportunities for all students to be involved in all aspects of learning. During the last few weeks it has been exciting to see the Numeracy activities going on around the school lead by our Numeracy Leader Kristy Grant and her team, and equally embraced by students and staff in the implementation of these learning opportunities and activities.

The Maths Timetables Ninja Competition has begun. The aim of this is to encourage students to practise multiplication facts and achieve “belts” acknowledging their growing achievements. Please support your child at home as they practise recalling these number facts to improve the speed and accuracy.

World Maths Day:

Last week students around the school completed a range of rotational maths activities across their level. Grade 3-6 students also competed in a Mathletics Maths Challenge focusing against other students from around the world, within our own school, and/or against the computer.

Over 1 million students participated world wide from over 200 countries.

Congratulations again to the champions of our levels: (add photos of these students).

Families have also been invited to have the opportunity to have a Maths Backpack come home with their child to explore and have maths fun with the family.

Each backpack contains a wide variety of games and activities for all to enjoy.

Easter Estimation Competition:

Students and staff will get to vote on their guess of how many Easter Eggs in the jar and winner(s) will receive a jar full of Cadbury’s finest chocolate.

Be sure to make a reasonable guess to be in with a chance to win.
