Staff in the Spotlight

Staff in the Spotlight

With so many staff joining our team this year, we would like to give our school community the opportunity to get to know our new teachers in a fun way. Each week we will be spotlighting a new staff member and sharing with you all sorts of fun and interesting stories about who they are and most importantly, why they became a teacher and what they love most about teaching!

This week we are spotlighting Eric Bott. Eric is a former Assistant Principal and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the College and in particular, the Maths Team.

How long have you been teaching?

Since 1980

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Largely because I enjoyed school and was pretty good at it.  Also, to create a career that was not dairy farming.

What do you love most about teaching?

Getting to know students. When I see the moment when a student learns something new and they didn't think they could.

What are three things you would like your students to know about you?

I love teaching. I admire students when they continue to strive to achieve their best.  I have four adult children and three beautiful grandchildren.

Where's your favourite holiday destination?

Several - road trips.  Broken Hill, Cabarita Beach, Adelaide, Central Australia

What are tv show/series did you last binge watch?

Big Bang Theory. Yellowstone

If you could wear Harry's invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do?

To travel with Jeff Bezos' Blue Horizon into space to see the world from this perspective.

What is the one piece of 'advice' or the one thing that you always say to your students?

Doing is the best way to learn.  There is no such thing as can't.
