Principal's Report

The Importance of Attendance

At Staughton, we are passionate about making sure our students get a great education to act as a springboard for their post school life. Regular attendance at school is the single most important factor in this education. Although our attendance policy sets 90% as the minimum satisfactory attendance rate, there is actually no safe number of days that students can take off. Every day that a student is absent from school they affect their potential academic achievement. Absence can also affect student’s social learning and connections.

By coming to school every day students can build strong habits that are needed for success after they leave school. As we reach the half way mark of this term it is important to ensure that your child has a high level of attendance. If they are sick and need to miss a day please make sure you let us know on our absence line (9743 5061). Once your child returns they can book into junior Homework Club or senior Work Attendance Redemption (WAR) to catch up on the work they have missed and be credited with attendance.

Child Safety

Our school focus on learning, effort and respect lived through our motto of try persevere achieve are underpinned by an understanding that Child Safety is a paramount responsibility of the school community. Staughton College has a number of guiding policies regarding Child Safety on our web site located at http://www.staughtoncollege.vic.edu.au/administration/. Please take some time to make yourself aware of these and contact the school should you have any concerns regarding Child Safety.
