What is your role in the Variety Show?
In the variety show, I perform in the year 7 choir and the dance group.
What act are your performing in?
Firstly, I am performing in the Annie number which tells the story of the circus clean up group, and in my other number, we are performing a Great Gatsby inspired number.
What have you been doing in the lead up to the big production in term 3?
We have been preparing by holding rehearsals. Many rehearsals are held every week for all groups and our previous holiday rehearsals as well as our upcoming weekend rehearsal.
In your own words, describe the overall theme of this year’s school production.
This year’s production has the theme of the circus with some inspiration coming from the recent musical, "The Greatest Showman."
What has been your favourite thing about participating in the whole school production?
Personally, my favourite part about participating in the production is the collaboration. It's really fun working with everyone in the production.
What has been challenging or difficult?
I find the cleaning choreography difficult as well as changing lyrics and songs. But where's the fun without a challenge?
What are you most excited about for the production evenings on August 9 and 10?
I'm really excited to show the audience what we've been working on for the past few months and I really hope they all enjoy it.
What can audiences expect of the night?
I believe the audience can expect a great night full of performances from some of Staughton's best singers, dancers, and actors.
Anything else?
I'd like to thank firstly, the auditioning panel for selecting such a great cast and all the teachers involved for helping to make this happen. I also need to thank the cast and crew for doing everything in their control to get to rehearsals, and memorising their lines and lyrics as well as choreography. Thanks to everyone involved for being dedicated and committed to this great performance. After all, this is the greatest show!
