Year 9 & 10 boys

 ....Wellbeing Program

The middle school years of high school can be complicated years for many students and especially boys, as they can be well into their adolescent years which dramatically affect their physical, emotional and mental state. As such, for some this can be a time of struggling to fit in and/or the development of their self-identity. This can often lead to aggressive behaviours, rebellion, anger or distancing themselves from significant adults.

At Fairhills High School we certainly understand and appreciate the difficult time these students have in their lives and know that having direction, motivation and adults that are able to speak to them can make a significant difference. For this reason, we have formed a relationship with Melbourne Muscle Health and Fitness in Bayswater.

At Melbourne Muscle, the students will be under the direct guidance of one of the Melbourne Muscle instructors who will guide them through a fitness routine. At the same time the instructors will be using the time to connect with the boys potentially talking about life issues, in particularly how they express their anger or other emotions in positive or negative ways. Each of the instructors will have a current working with children check and are passionate for the opportunity to give back to the community in this way. Stewart MacCartney, the school’s Chaplain, will be present and closely involved in the program as it runs. This enables us to follow up on any developments that might occur back at school.

We are really excited about this program and its potential in making an impact on the lives of the boys at Fairhills High School.
