Basketball Academy

In the first few days of the holidays I had the opportunity to work at the Basketball Without Boarders Camp at Dandenong and Geelong. This event is run by the NBA and FIBA who bring in the best young talent from around the region. I was fortunate to work with the Junior girls both at the Under 18 level and the Under 16 age groups. Part of the experience was to hear from players in the NBA.

We heard from Australia’s own Joe Ingles and Dante Exum on one of the days and then Championship winning and Hall of Fame player David Robinson and Championship winning player Bruce Bowen, now on ESPN, amongst others, like Patty Mills, Aaron Baynes and Jerry Stackhouse.

We had the opportunity of working with 4 NBA Assistant Coaches. I was able to work and coach at some of the skill stations as well as coach the winning team in the elite girl’s competition and then in the Girls All Star game.  A great experience over three days.
