eSmart School
St Raphael’s has recently become an eSmart School with the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
eSmart is an initiative where schools follow a framework to set up cybersafe environments. Completing the Framework takes roughly 4 years and once completed the Foundation gives schools the status of being a Sustaining eSmart School.
St Raphael’s is proud to have completed this framework over the last 4 years and will now be in the sustaining period. Work that our school has implemented to achieve this includes:
effective school organisation
school plans, policies and procedures
respectful and caring school community
effective teacher practices
an eSmart curriculum
partnerships with parents and the local community
The framework integrates cybersafety with the school’s existing knowledge and practices about student wellbeing and child safety.
As an eSmart school St Raphael’s will be supporting students to embrace the benefits of technology while reducing their exposure to and improving their ability to respond appropriately to cyber risks, such as cyberbullying.
eSmart will provide our school with a set of tools for:
how to tackle bullying and cyberbullying
training, lesson plans and activities for students
Parents support for seeing signs of cyberbullying and how to get help.
