Boite Choir Grades 3 - 6

Rebekah Tankard & Lani Seligman

The Boite Schools Chorus is an annual, unauditioned choir event presented by The Boite for schools and community youth choirs. Since 2004 the Boite Schools Chorus has involved over 11,000 students from across Victoria in 45 concerts throughout the state. Students explore music and cultures of the world in school programs with their teachers and then combine with other singers from across the state in a concert for peers, families, and friends. The Boite Schools Chorus is focused on encouraging participation regardless of experience. This project allows students and teachers to immerse themselves in diverse musical culture, to develop skills and confidence, to promote community engagement, and to give students the thrilling experience of standing on stage in front of an audience performing in a professionally presented concert. Led by passionate musical professionals, the choir is the driving force behind these concerts. In 2023 join Deb Clarke, educator and musician from the Torres Strait Islands with cultural advisor, singer /songwriter Luke Captain from Murray Island, and choir leader Stella Savy as we learn and enjoy songs and stories from the Torres Strait Islands. The Boite Schools Chorus ‘Maiem’ will offer an opportunity for students to listen, learn, experience, and perform songs that share the richness and diversity of the Torres Strait Islands peoples.
