National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence (17th March)

This day was begun by the Australian bullying prevention initiative, ‘Bullying. No way!’.

It acts to recognise the importance in discussing bullying, its mental health impacts, and how we as a global

community, and more locally, as an MGC community can create an open and safe environment to provide help to victims of bullying and violence.

Bullying is an ongoing and repeated act, with the intention to hurt another person. It exists in various forms:

  • Verbal (name calling, putting someone down)
  • Physical (knocking someone over, hitting)
  • Social (spreading rumours, discrimination, exclusion)
  • Cyber (using technology or social media platforms to hurt someone, via pictures, messages, or comments)

If you are a victim of bullying, you are not alone, and you can reach out in full privacy to the counsellors at the MGC Wellbeing centre (contacts below). Or, you can talk to your Year Level Leader, an MGC staff member who you trust and feel comfortable with, or even reach out to the Wellbeing portfolio (contacts also below).

And finally, be there and care for each other 🙂

World Sleep Day (18th March)

This year's theme for World Sleep Day is ‘Sleep is essential for health’.

World sleep day is an event organized by the World Sleep Society which promotes the importance of having a good night's sleep! The aim of this day is to elevate and start open conversations around sleep and to remind everyone that sleep is essential for your physical and mental health and wellbeing!

Feel free to message any of the wellbeing portfolio for more information about why sleep is so important for your wellbeing and happy World Sleep Day!

Friday 17th March come join us in room 315 at Lunch for some activities to start the conversation around bullying, as well as some peaceful activities to relax.
