Homestay Families Required
As the new International Student Coordinator at Frankston High School, I am supporting our current international students and looking forward to welcoming our new incoming students. We are increasing our International Student numbers at the commencement of Term 3 and therefore require local families.
If you think you may be interested in participating in the rewarding experience of hosting an international student or students or would like more information regarding hosting, please contact me at the school. If you know of any other family in the area who may also be interested, please pass on my details.
I look forward to hearing from you.

WWC Check
Dear Host Family
A Working with Children Check form (WWC) needs to be completed by every person over the age of 18 years residing at your residence to comply with the Victorian Governments new checking system. Once your WWC application is processed, it is valid for 5 years.
Step 1 Go to the WWC Check website:
www.justice.vic.gov.au/workingwithchildren
. Fill out the form online then print out the application summary with all of the details you entered.
When completing the online form please note: for
Question 11, please indicate ‘Volunteer’ and Code 44. For Question 12, the Frankston High School address is Foot Street Frankston 3199 and the contact phone number is 03 9783 7955.
Step 2 Go to a participating Australia Post outlet to lodge your application summary with 100 points of ID along with a passport photo. No appointment is necessary.
If you need a passport photo taken, a post office can do this on the spot at a fee of approximately $12.00 - $15.00 per person. This fee can be reimbursed by taking the photo receipt to the
Finance Office on the Year 7 - 10 Campus or it can be credited to your child’s school account.
Step 3
As a volunteer there is no charge for a WWC form to be processed. Please hand in or post the ‘WWC application receipt’ (from the Post Office) to the Year 7 - 10 or Senior Office for our records while you wait for the official Working with Children Check card to be sent to you.
Please note: If you are hosting a student,
once we have sighted the ‘WWC application receipt’, you can commence hosting. If you already have a WWC number, please complete these details on the Host Family Profile Form.

2014 French Host Family Program
Frankston High School has 10 French students arriving from our sister school Lycee Jean Zay for eight weeks for their annual visit to our school. They arrive on Tuesday, 24 June and depart on Tuesday, 19 August 2014.
We encourage all Frankston High School French students to consider hosting one of our French visitors during one or both periods below:
Tuesday 24 June – Sunday 20 July 2014
and/or
Sunday 20 July – Tuesday 19 August 2014
Please indicate preferences on the French Host Family form.
The French students are 16-17 years old and will attend Year 10 classes plus one Year 11 French class. They do not need their own room, and school books, lockers and uniforms are supplied.
Past host families have found the cultural experience rewarding and enjoyable. It has also assisted their student in the study of the French language.
We ask each host family to provide accommodation and three meals per day please (a cut lunch or lunch money for the canteen for school days). We also ask that you pay for your guest when dining out or an admission cost to a venue if the outing has been arranged by you, otherwise we expect the French student to fund anything additional during their stay. We also encourage all host families to give your French guest daily chores as you would your own children.
Please return the completed French Host Family form to Anne Thomson by email or return a hard copy to the Year 7 – 10 Campus or Senior Office
as soon as possible along with the Working with Children Check information form (if applicable).
Please contact Anne Thomson on 0409 835 541 or email athomso@fhs.vic.edu.au for further information.

Calling All Ex Frankston High Students!
Hello, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sue Robinson and I was a student at Frankston High from 1966 to 1971 when I did Matric in the “new” building on the Senior Campus. I am also in the fairly unusual position of actually teaching here at present!
You may not know that 2014 marks the 90th
Anniversary of this great school, a milestone that should not go unnoticed. We are planning a range of events for October, but a specific project that I am involved in is the creation of a museum to house a changing display of artefacts from the school’s past.
This is where you come in! Do you have any old memorabilia at home? We are happy to take photos, articles of uniform, old textbooks....anything that will depict the changing nature of education and the role the school has paid in the community.
If you are donating things just bring them along to either office (Year 7 – 10 or Senior Campus) and I will collect them from there.
I am also very keen to compile an oral history of the school. I have some great Year 7 students who would love to be involved in collecting this documentary evidence. Do you have some stories to tell?
You can contact me via any of the avenues below. I look forward to hearing from you!
