Excursion - The Royal Botanic Gardens
Yesterday the 1/2 students explored the
Royal Botanical Gardens.
We travelled by bus and visited The Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden. We learnt about nutrient cycles and food chains through exploration of the Kitchen Garden. Students observed seasonal produce growing at Melbourne Gardens, developed connections between plants and healthy diets and were introduced to composting and other organic and sustainable gardening methods.
Students were given their own plants to take back to school and we now have a little garden growing in our classroom. We can't wait to show you these plants at the Expo in a few weeks.
