Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

We began this week with a wonderful Monday morning gathering in the sunshine, with a growing group of parents and families joining us to share our news for the coming week, school updates and school awards. This week I also got to mention a special congratulations to Romeo and his mum Louise who celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism together at St Ignatius Church on the weekend. Fr Trung and the Parish Community welcomed them into our Catholic family at our Sunday morning mass and we acknowledge this very special event.

NAPLAN

Our NAPLAN tests have now all been completed so I would like to thank all the staff involved and of course our Year 3 and Year 5 students who all worked so well throughout the four sets of tests. All, except for our year 3 writing tests, were completed online, so it is expected the results will come back to us much sooner than in the past. As we always say, the results for us are not so much a measure of each individual child but more an opportunity to look at trends in results to guide our thinking and planning in the future.

School Masterplan

Today we will lodge our Capital Grant Application and look forward to a positive response from the Australian Government Grants Program. However, as I explained last week there are many schools who apply and a limited pool of money, so it can be quite difficult to be successful. If we are not successful on this occasion there will be further opportunity to apply in a second round of grants that will become available later this year.

Prayer:  Harmony Week

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it; you shall love your neighbour as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two great commandments. (Matthew 22: 37-40)

Good and gracious God, who loves and delights in all people,
we stand in awe before you, knowing that the spark of life within each person
is the spark of your divine life.
Differences among cultures and races are multicoloured manifestations of your light. May our hearts and minds be open to celebrate similarities and differences among our sisters and brothers.
Please send your healing and reconciling Spirit in order to bind the wounds created by racism and racial hatred, and to promote understanding, justice, and love.
We place our hopes for racial harmony in our committed action and in your living presence in our neighbour.
May all peoples live in peace!
Amen.

School Fete Update!

Dear Parents,

With just over a week to go till our fete we are unfortunately still struggling to fill our volunteer spots to ensure the day runs smoothly. The parents committee has been working tirelessly all year to ensure that the event is a success with hours and hours of work going on behind the scenes. It is often the same parents (mainly mums) each time who volunteer their time and efforts  and, as we know, the success of our events benefits ALL our children!

The volunteer sign up sheet will again be available tonight at multicultural night and I would hope that all spaces get filled. Regards Parents and Friends Committee
