CyberSafety

As is often the case there is again discussion in the media around the safety of certain apps and the protections in place to ensure our children are safe online.

Children who use the online environment require a lot of assistance.  They need support with a range of skills including: to interact safely and appropriately with others, to protect themselves and their personal identity, searching skills and reporting to an adult when they feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Most of the social media apps are not approved for children under 13 years old, however I know many of our students frequently use these apps, including Tick Tock, Instagram, Snap Chat (and many others).

This is such a tricky area for parents to navigate with their children as they manage the child's expectations with the information/warnings in the media.

The eSafety Commissioner has a fantastic website that has a lot of support for parents, children and teachers.  If you have visited the website in the past, please revisit it as they are always updating the information and resources.  They even have a button for you or your child to report abuse.
