Fungi excursion

All students will require their hat for this excursion. Sturdy shoes will be a must as this is a walking excursion.

 

Senior group  Leaving NPS at 8.55 am – bring backpack with lunch box, drink bottle, field guide and pencil to carry themselves.

 

Arrive at Days Picnic Ground, complete a loop walk to Sanatorium Lake, around the lake, and back to Days Picnic Ground, looking for and identifying fungi using field guides. iPads to take photos of fungi and magnifying glasses will be available.

 Walk from Days Picnic Ground to McGregor’s Picnic Ground around Camels Hump, looking for and identifying fungi using field guides. At McGregor’s Picnic Ground the seniors will share and reflect on fungi observations.

 

                      Eat lunch with whole school and short play time.

                      

Students do scientific drawings and watercolours of fungi from the area around McGregor’s Picnic Ground or from photos taken.

 

 Depart on bus for NPS.

                      

Junior group – tubs with lunch boxes and drink bottles will be delivered to them.

 

 Arrive at McGregor’s Picnic Ground, students eat morning tea. 

Students walk along the tracks around the picnic ground, looking for and identifying fungi using field guides. iPads to take photos of fungi and magnifying glasses will be available. Share and reflect on fungi observations.

 

                      Eat lunch with whole school and short play time.

                      

Scavenger hunt – students complete scavenger hunt around McGregor’s Picnic Ground.

Depart on bus for NPS.

Update on plastics

Thank you to families for not packing plastics in lunches. Students taking home their plastics in their lunch boxes is making a huge difference to the school. There are less plastics in the yard now.
