VCE Text books for 2017

Please note that students intending to study General Maths in Year 11 or Further Maths in Year 12 next year (2017) can purchase second hand Maths Quest text books from the current General Maths and Further Maths students. Students may be able to source second-hand books within their home groups if they do not know of people currently studying those subjects.

Unfortunately, students studying Math Methods will be required to purchase new text books at both Year 11 and 12 levels.

Assessment for learning

A number of maths classes have successfully used a novel means for students to check their understanding using Post-it notes. Each of these have a different problem based on the focus skill. Students select a task, determine their answer and write it next to their name on the back of the Post-it note, which is then returned to the whiteboard. The student would then choose another task to complete. If a student’s answer is different to answers already on the back, they have a discussion with the other student/s to decide which answer is correct and why.

Enter 999999 into your calculator, then divide it by seven. The result will be a mysterious number!

Throw a die (or randomly pick a number from 1 to 6) and multiply it by the mysterious number. Arrange the digits of the answer from lowest to highest, from left to right, to form a six-digit number.
