Principal's Report

Principal's Report
After enjoying some glorious autumn weather during the holidays, it was wonderful to see the return of students to begin Term 2.
At the Opening Assembly we welcomed several new staff:
Michelle Beltrame: Marketing and Communication
Michelle Bassett: Laboratory Technician
Trudy Sharrock: Art teacher (Term 2)
Matthew Kennedy: Physical Education (Term 2)
Shae-Arna Maddern: Adaptive Education
Please also note the following staff changes for Term 2:
Wayne Slattery: Acting Year 9 Year Level Leader
Annalisa Sheridan: Acting Art Learning Leader
Rachael Facchin: Acting Detention Coordinator
Supporting teacher development, we have five training teachers doing their practicums at the College in Term 2.
We are also delighted to announce the appointment of Lay Chaplain, Charlie Tatera. Charlie will lead our Ministry program until the end of the year as we continue to explore the call for a pastor.
In the coming months we will review the Senior Years programs at the College in line with our Strategic Plan. Teacher and student working groups have been established to reflect on our current practices in curriculum, health and wellbeing programs and in areas we can improve our practices to ensure our students are best prepared for their life beyond school. The working groups will visit other schools and investigate the latest research on educational outcomes needed for the future. The results of the Quality Schools Survey, all families have been invited to participate in, will also feed into our discussions. It is envisaged that any changes from the review will be implemented from 2020.
The theme for Term 2 is Courage. As we celebrate 20 years at the College, it is good to reflect on the courage shown by the founders of the College as they stood by their vision to establish this secondary school. Have a look at the video below and view some of the stories shared by founding Chair, Michael Krause and Principal, Mike Leske, reflecting back to 1998.
Blessings as we together, venture into a new term of learning and growth!
