From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers, Konnichiwa!

School Improvement

Here at Grange our school is well  placed to achieve continuous improvement in the learning of every student, achieving at least 12 months growth each year. As I recorded in the last newsletter all Department for Education school improvement plans in 2019 are focused on literacy and numeracy. We are well one this journey at Grange through the outstanding work of our senior leaders in implementing our improvement plans over the past 3 years with literacy and numeracy as the key focus.

In 2019 this will be even further strengthened with the work of three new Coordinator Leadership positions, coaches in the areas of

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Technology

We are currently working through processes to select the coaches and I will let you the outcomes when they can be released.

The work of the coach is to co-plan, co-teach and model best practices alongside classroom teachers to extend their current good practice even further. By our school investing in developing the quality and consistency of our teachers we will develop even more students that are highly confident, capable and high achieving students that are the very best they can be.

The priorities for our Site Improvement Plan in 2019 are -

  1. To improve student achievement in writing, Foundation to Year 7
  2. To improve student achievement in reading, Years 3-7
  3. To improve student achievement in Mathematics, Foundation to Year 2

These areas build upon our improvement work in Literacy and Mathematics and identify our next steps for improvement. This doesn’t mean that we are not focussing on other year levels in reading and maths, but our next improvement steps are at the listed year levels.

To support our work we seek your feedback and comments on how we are going as a school. The online survey will only take you about 5 minutes. I would greatly appreciate your feedback to assist us in the implementation of our Department's directions in Literacy and Numeracy improvement with, of course, the total focus of our work at Grange in enabling every child to be the best they can be.
