Eucharist
Last weekend we celebrated the Rite of Acceptance masses for our Eucharist students. Families of our Eucharist students presented their child to our Parish community. This is an important step in the children's Eucharist journey. Another very important part of our Eucharist preparation is the Family Faith evening. Our Eucharist Family Evening will be held on Monday 12th August in the Brigidine Learning Centre. It is imperative that the student and an adult attend the evening. The students will be sharing their learning about the Sacrament and there will be ore information regarding the Sacrament presented on the evening.
St. John Vianney's Feast Day
On Sunday 4th August we celebrate the feast day of our Patron saint - St. John Vianney. St. John Vianney was born in France, on 8 May 1789. In 1818 he became the parish priest of the small village of Ars, which he made a model parish and from which reports of his devotion and holiness soon spread. He was known for his devotion to the Mary, Mother of Christ and St. Philomena and was dedicated to the sacrament of reconciliation for his parishioners. St.John Vianney is the patron saint of Parish Priests.
On Monday 5th August we will be celebrating the feast of St.John Vianney with mass in the church at 9.00 am. All families are most welcome to join us for mass on Monday morning.
St. Mary MacKillop
August 8th marks the feast day of St. Mary MacKillop. St. Mary MacKillop She was dedicated to providing education to the poor, and her order, the Josephites, founded schools, orphanages, and nursing homes for the working classes across Australia. She was well educated, having been tutored by her father, as well as attending private schools, and travelled widely for a woman of her day. Mary was much beloved by the sisters of her order, and she was known to be caring and fair in her dealings with them. St. Mary MacKillop devoted more than 40 years to caring for and educating the working class people of Australia.
