Janine Swann, Class of 1964
Thank you to Janine Swann, Class of 1964 for sharing her story with us. We are sure that like us, you will find it very moving.
'It all began when I was brought to the School as a child with polio in the 1950s as it is the background to the beginning of our happy (and healing for me) times at Kilvington, for which my Dad was incredibly grateful . His time on the council (I think it was 36 years), he saw as being part of repaying that debt.'
Some words below from Fred Swann (Dec.) to his daughter Janine. Fred Swan was a Life Governor of Kilvington and served on the School Council for many years. The science building near The Green is named in his honour.
'You were not going so good at the Tucker Road State School and we decided to try Kilvington on Les Gates' advice. This dear Christian lady had such a presence that we both felt that this was the place for you and Victoria.
'How right we were. No doubt it was in this Christian atmosphere that your character was formed. I remember the feeling of great joy when you were made House Captain of Burman House.
'I can honestly say that God blessed Kilvington, as it has that special feeling when one enters. I trust that I repaid some of the debt.'
