The Year to Date
Kilvonian Committee
This year, we have established a Kilvonian Committee. Our first meeting was held in March and we held an online Zoom meeting in June. Our members are:
Sarah McSwiney, Class of 1999
Sarah Lim, Class of 2003
Ann Cleghorn, Class of 1977
Julie Scott, Class of 1982
Rebecca Zolotareva, Class of 1992
Camilla Fiorini, Director of Marketing and Development (Staff)
Deb Duce, Community Relations Officer (Staff)
Jon Charlton, Kilvington Grammar Principal also attended our meetings.
You may have noticed our mission statement on the cover page of this newsletter, To build a community of former students who enjoy and contribute to Kilvington’s rich culture of connection, relationships and care. It was agreed that this is an accurate representation of what we aim to build on going forward for our alumni.
Other items discussed included:
- A series of breakfast networking events focused on STEAM, finance, law, health etc.
- Kilvonian groups such as a running, and a singing group (not at the same time!).
- Fundraising opportunities.
- Keeping us up-to-date with births, deaths and marriages.
- Child-friendly events.
- Archiving sub-committee.
- Kilvington Centenary celebrations in 2023.
We will be looking at various ways to get these initiatives up and running. In particular, we are very keen to establish a sub-committee to help organise the Centenary event/s for 2023. If this is something that sounds like it's right up your alley don't be shy! Please contact Deb Duce at duced@kilvington.vic.edu.au with any suggestions, updates or to get involved.
Kilvington's Notable Alumni
We were recently approached by The Leader Newspaper to be involved in a series of articles they are running on selected schools and their alumni.
Our congratulations and thanks to all of the Kilvonians we approached (on a very short deadline) for their input and contribution to the published article attached above.
