ARTS MATTERS

YEAR 7 & 8 ART

It has been a wonderful start to 2019 in Years 7 and 8 Art with students busy making a variety of artworks. Year 7s have been working on their drawing skills and learning about line, tone and colour through a variety of drawing and rendering techniques. Semester 1 Year 7 Art students are looking forward to attending a Year 7 Art/English excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria next Term.

Year 8s who are in Art this term are creating a Pop Art style painting in acrylic paint on canvas and are learning about colour and painting techniques. Year 8 students who are currently in Ceramics are making a pinch pot and a Japanese inspired ceramic character from clay. Students are learning about how to use clay and about working in a ceramics room. They are learning various handbuilding techniques and how to apply underglazes.

ART CLUB

Art Club is running on Thursday lunch times with Mrs Griffith and Miss Sip and as in previous years is very popular with students. In fact our club has grown so much this year we now take up two classrooms - T06 and T07!

It is fantastic to see so many students who have returned from last year. We also welcome a big group of very excited Year 7 students as well as some new enthusiastic Year 8s who have joined us.
