Principal's Report

Year 12 Farewell
I congratulate the class of 2017 for the way they finished their school year, culminating in their final assembly and celebration day on Tuesday. They have behaved and acted in a manner which allowed all members of the community to participate in the celebrations with them. This underlines the respect and pride our students have for their school, something which our parents and staff are very proud of.
I also want to acknowledge the role Deputy Principal - Students Mr Stephen Bourbon, our House Leaders, Homeroom Teachers and Wellbeing staff have played not only in the final few weeks but also in the journey of these young men and women through the college. The House System which these students have been in for the last six years is a wonderfully supportive and nurturing environment for our students and I thank all staff for their contribution in this regard.
We wish all of our Year 12 students the best as they prepare for their final exams and look forward to the Graduation Mass and Dinner in a month's time. I include a wonderful tribute to our Year 12 students by senior staff member Mr Michael Toomey.
Walk tall, touch the breeze and stretch the blue
Walk tall, feel the breeze in your fingers and stretch for the blue.
Walk out on to Caroline Street with a feeling of ease
Be content that you created treasured memories here
Feel the breeze and follow invitations and opportunities.
Grasp gratefully, blessings offered
Use your voice for justice and fellowship
Remembering all those sermons about eagles and stewardship
And when darkness or greyness calls, as it will
Remember the bonds formed at SJRC.
Touch those treasured memories,
Regain old connections.
Walk tall, feel the breeze
Rediscover the blue that freedom offers each one of you.
Mike Toomey, October 2015.
2017 Awards Night
I thank all those families, students and staff members who attended our 2017 Awards Night. It was pleasing to be able to share the story of excellence that has been achieved throughout the year by so many of our students.
I thank and acknowledge the work of Mr Tim Lee, Mr Quentin Smith and Ms Mary Cerdor for the many hours they have put into this night along with the large number of staff who assisted in bringing to life this major event in the school calendar.
Congratulations to all students who were acknowledged with awards or performed on the night.
2018 Captains
Many activities that our students are involved in give me great pride, but none more so than listening to our students complete their nomination speeches and interviews for Student Leadership positions. It is wonderful to hear of their pride and love for their school and their commitment to serve as an act of gratitude for the wonderful opportunities that this school has provided for them.
It affirms three important things; great mentoring in leadership as service provided by our teaching staff, the manner in which our school focuses on educating the whole child and the wonderful job our parents are doing in raising fine young men and women who want to give back to their community. We received many nominations from our Year 11 students and I thank them all for their willingness to serve.
I congratulate the following students who were presented to our College Community at the Awards Evening as our College Captains for 2018. I look forward to working with them and supporting their development as servant leaders in our College
