OSHC News

Welcome to our first OSHC News for 2020. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a big warm welcome to all of our new OSHC families.

We have had a huge fortnight settling into the new school year, our Prep students (and parents) have been busy learning all the routines of OSHC. It has been great to see our older students taking charge by taking the time to welcome and support the Prep students and show them around.

Meet the OSHC Leadership Team

KELLY SZABO

OSHC Coordinator / Education Leader

Kelly oversees the running of all aspects of the program including administration, programming, staffing and complying with legislative requirements. Kelly’s role also includes implementing a diverse educational program based on the National Quality Framework, developmental needs and interests of the children attending the service.

Kelly is predominantly available in the after school care program to meet with parents, however, can be available at any time by appointment to discuss any query, concern or issue you may have regarding the program.

TAMARA DRAPER

Assistant OSHC Coordinator / OSHC Senior School Leader

Tamara’s role is to assist with the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the program. As the Senior School OSHC Leader, Tamara works to ensure our Year 3, 4 5 & 6 students have a sense of belonging at our OSHC service. Tamara works closely with Kelly to ensure all the medical forms are up to date and that all educators are aware of students who have medical and health care needs.

AMANDA SHEPPARD

Assistant OSHC Coordinator / OSHC Junior School Leader

Along with Tamara, Amanda’s role is to assist with the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the program. Amanda’s role as the Junior School OSHC Leader involves working to ensure our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students feel safe, secure and supported within our OSHC environment.

Amanda works closely with our cook, Karen, to organise and develop a menu based on the health needs, interests and requests of the children attending our service.

Our Leadership team works together to develop a high quality program that focuses on developing children’s learning through a culture of secure and respectful relationships with children and their families.

Some Happy Snaps of our Fortnight

The OSHC Garden

Over the last fortnight the Kareem and the students have spent a considerable amount of time in the OSHC garden watering, weeding, making signs and harvesting some of our vegetables and herbs. Kareem even made a delicious salad with the Kale!

Child Care Subsidy Not Showing?

If you have applied and are entitled to the Child Care Subsidy and it is not showing on your statement it could be because you haven’t supplied us with the Customer Reference Number for your child and the parent claiming. If you think this may be the case please contact me (Kelly) via email oshc@beaumarisnorthps.vic.edu.au

Another reason the Child Care Subsidy may not be showing on your statement is because you haven’t ‘confirmed the enrolment’,  log in to your MyGov account to do this.

OSHC Term 1 Sports Program

This term Sports Star Academy (SSA), with an OSHC Educator in attendance, are running the following after school sports. For bookings and to make payment, please click on the links below ASAP!

Monday: Soccer

Tuesday: Basketball

Friday: Tennis

Once you have made payment we also request that you send an email to Kelly at oshc@beaumarisnorthps.vic.edu.au so that we can keep on top of numbers and ensure your child attends the program.

Photo Identification

Please don’t be offended if we ask you for photo identification when collecting your child/children from OSHC. We currently have over 290 families using our program, each with multiple authorised persons who may collect their child, which makes it very difficult for educators to remember who is supposed to be picking up who.

Although we understand that this may inconvenience you, please remember this is for the safety of YOUR child and we would appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Quote of the fortnight

“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.” – Kay Redfield Jamison

Feedback

As always, we welcome feedback about any aspect of the program. Please feel free to come in and have a chat with Kelly, Tamara or Amanda, send us an email or leave a note in the Feedback box on the sign-in table.

We welcome your input!
