Primary School News

A big thank you to all the families who came along on Wednesday 6 September for the Student Led Conversations (Student/Parent/Teacher Learning Conversations). It was pleasing to see so many students sharing their learning with their parents in a positive manner. If you would like to make a time to discuss any concerns about your child’s learning, please contact your son’s class teacher to arrange this.

On Thursday 7 September, the Year 4 class had their overnight Zoosnooze camp at the Adelaide Zoo. The boys were very excited about staying overnight and had lots of stories to share when they returned the following day. The teachers that went along with them were the Year 4 class teacher Mrs Claire Holland, Miss Nicole Schwidder and Mr Henry Vo. Everyone was extremely well behaved and they all enjoyed the night walk around the zoo.

On Friday 8 September a letter was sent home to all the Year 1 families letting them know that Miss Jessica Hansen will be ending her contract at the end of the term. We wish her all the very best for the remainder of the year as she goes on an extended overseas holiday. Both Year 1 classes will be taught by Miss Kendall Schenk for the remainder of the school year.

The Junior Primary classes (R – 3) had a visit from Bone Health on Tuesday 12 September after lunch. They spoke to the students about the importance of maintaining healthy bones and a healthy body, they did this through songs and discussions. They told the students that they need three things to keep their bones healthy, they are:  calcium, Vitamin D and exercise.

Every Friday the Primary School get together to celebrate either an assembly or a Mass/Liturgy. If you can join us on Friday morning around 9.00am we would love to see you. Next Friday 22 September, the Primary School will be celebrating our annual Grandfriend’s Morning.  If you can attend, please let us know for catering purposes. Later that evening will be the Primary Disco, there will be two sessions. One for the Junior Primary classes from 6.00pm until 7.00pm, and then from 7.30pm until 8.30pm for the Years 3 to 6. For the second session students from St Dominic’s Priory College and Rosary School have also been invited. If you can help on the night and have a current Catholic Schools Police Clearance, please return the slip to your class teacher.

Saturday 16 September will see the arrival of seven raised garden beds and soil. The primary students will be using these for planting a range of herbs and different vegetables such as lettuce and strawberries. If you are keen to help in the setting up of the garden with the students, please let Mrs Ronoastro know. Thank you to those who have already kindly donated items for the students to use, and for the parents who have already notified me about helping in the garden.

On Sunday 13 August, Isaac Jacobs from Year 6N and his team mates, represented the Metro North Division at the St John State Competitions. Congratulations to Isaac and his team as they came 1st in the Junior section making them the 2017 State Champions.
