Year 4 Zoosnooze

Year 4 Zoosnooze

Last week the Year 4 class went to the Adelaide Zoo and strayed overnight. A few boys have each written a short recount below.

We went to the Adelaide Zoo last week for ZOOSNOOZE!

We put all our things on the bus.

We took:

  • pyjamas and pillow
  • toothbrush and toothpaste
  • sleeping bag and spare socks
  • drink bottle (and some kids took some snacks).

As soon as we got there we went for a walk. Then we came back for dinner. After dinner we went for the night walk. We didn’t get to see all the animals on the night walk. But we did hear the Crows winning the football.

It took ages for everyone to get to sleep. The next day all the kids were tired. I mean REALLY tired. The teachers took us on ANOTHER walk. When we got back, Steph the Education Officer showed us a blue tongue lizard.

The next walk was to the fantastic playground. We didn’t stop running around for an hour. It was the best!! We had to go back to base to get ready to return to school. That afternoon at school everyone was still excited but very tired at the same time.

Over the weekend, I slept like a log.

On Thursday the 7 September our class (4H) went to the Adelaide Zoo. We had three teachers coming with us. We had Mrs Holland (of course), Mr Vo and Miss Schwidder.

We went to the Adelaide Zoo by “Adelaide Coachlines” bus. When we arrived at the zoo we met a man named John who worked at the Adelaide zoo. John wasn’t the overnight instructor.

When we arrived to where we were going to sleep all of us had a snack. I had a Le Snack (cheese and crackers). 10 – 20 minutes later we went for a stroll in the zoo to look at all the different species of animals. By far, my favourite animal was the baby meerkats. They were so cute!

At night we had a barbeque dinner but I brought my own noodles. We went for a night walk and we saw a lot of possums. They were mostly in trees. The night was L O N G. Some kids didn’t sleep much. In the morning we packed up, cleaned up and had breakfast. After breakfast we went around the zoo again. We went to the playground and we played for one and half hours. Later (too soon) we were on the bus back to school. As we came back to our class room all of us were tired, some of us went home early because of exhaustion, including me.

On Thursday morning Week 7 we left to go to the Adelaide Zoo. Once we arrived at the zoo one of the zoo keepers told us what we were going to do. Next we had a snack then we were split up into three groups; Mr Vo, Mrs Holland and Miss Schwidder - I was in Mrs Holland’s group.

We walked around the zoo then came back for a BBQ dinner. When we finished eating we cleaned our dishes then had ice-cream for dessert. We went back inside and set up our sleeping bags, after we finished that we put war clothes on then went outside for a night walk. We could hear lots of animals and we could also hear the Crows fans.

Once we came back to the education building we changed into our PJS. Once we all have finished changing we watched Monsters Inc and had a drink of milo but it tasted like hot water and then we went to bed. (But I didn’t sleep very well).

When we woke up in the morning we had toast cornflakes or rice bubbles. After that we went to the playground for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Next we left for school.
