BrainSTEM students visit biology labs

On September 12, we travelled to Latrobe University in Bundoora to attend our mentoring session with molecular biologist Gabriela.

In this session, we were fortunate enough to get a tour of the labs that Gabriela does research in. Whilst on the tour she showed us the process of purifying proteins for use in medicine. We got to see the machinery and equipment they use in the labs. It was a very cool experience and we learnt a lot. We are now partway through the BrainSTEM Innovation Challenge and with our new-found knowledge will work toward developing a product for presentation in November.
