Awarding quiet leadership: Meliora Sequamur Awards

Celebrating our school values

Each year the student Year level and program captains and staff have an opportunity to nominate students for a Meliora Sequamur award.  This award began in 2011 and is a great opportunity to recognise student contributions, commitment or personal growth. Each year there is a diverse range of awards that celebrate students who have demonstrated our community’s vision and values.

There are two categories in which students can be nominated:

  1. Contribution and commitment to the school and/or wider community – a range of actions or behaviours that demonstrate leadership or commitment
  2. Significant positive change (personal growth) – learning behaviours or actions that demonstrate individual growth

Students who are Year Level and Program captains are not eligible for the awards: these are more about recognising the informal ways in which students demonstrate leadership of themselves and their peers. The award ceremony is always incredibly moving, as nominators speak directly and personally about the impact they have observed the nominee have on our community.

Students who are not captains, but who have a suggestion of someone who deserves a Meliora Sequamur award,  should see their Year Level captain or Assistant Principal Katie Archibald to discuss their nomination.

The ceremony will be held on Thursday 17 October. All members of the school community are welcome to attend - look out for details in following newsletters.
