Parent Band

Many thanks to the parents and students who made the picnic performance a success.  What a beautiful afternoon it was. We had a great time rocking out in the band. It was great to see our students David V on drums, Sam R on saxophone and ex-student Ben R on bass guitar. Special mentions must go to Dave Powell on lead guitar, Atlanta Coogan on lead vocals, Glenn Anderson and Michael Tzikas on guitar and vocals, Matt Roberts on keyboard and vocals as well as Campbell Vinson on the sound desk. I really enjoyed playing along on piano and adding harmony on vocals.

Parent Band plays INX Never tear Us Apart.

Choir for Years 3 to year 6

Choir is going really well and students are already singing in perfect two-part harmony.  Many thanks to Jennette Green who has offered to support the choir students. Jennette is a qualified teacher and has excellent music credentials. With 54 members already signed up, Jennette is a valuable team member.

Choir begins at 8am. I can’t be at the gate and monitor the room on my own so please enter via the OSHC gate.  Once students have arrived we have an attendance roll and students need to sign in.

Music regulation

Just to keep you up to date with regards to being covid safe whilst running music activities here is an excerpt from the latest regulations:

Use of woodwind and brass instruments, singing, voice projection and dance

Use of wind and brass instruments, singing and voice projection does entail risk of potential spread of aerosols and droplets.

Musical instruments may be used, and group singing is permitted without specified limits. However, schools must consider and implement measures that may prevent or significantly reduce the risk of infection transmission as outlined by the Department of Health’s COVID-19 transmission from air-circulating, wind-blowing devices and activities.

Measures include physical distancing, moving outdoors, increasing ventilation, reducing the number of people, or reducing the length of time of the activity.

The Department of Health currently advises when participating in a music or singing rehearsal or lesson it is recommended that individuals keep at least two metres from others in the rehearsal or lesson.

Those required to wear a face mask indoors must wear a fitted face mask when singing indoors.

Please note:

Recorder lessons for years 3 & 4 will be reviewed in Term 2. For now, given the condensation and dribble that occurs with recorders, it is too much of a risk.

Australian Sign Language Leaders (Auslan)

Our Auslan leaders performed brilliantly at Monday’s assembly.
