Recreation News

Recreation has been enjoyable and varied for the start of the year.  Currently we are restructuring our organisation of recreation and advertising for a Recreation Administrator to organise all the activities for the week and then our capable staff can take the students out to enjoy the planned activities.

Recreation is scheduled on REACH and all students are encouraged to accept or decline by Thursday night to enable our staff to allow enough time to plan for staffing, buses, food and safety measures.

This term we have been to the beach, skate park, School Ball red carpet, fishing, cinema, ten-pin bowling, gym sessions, beach volleyball and participated in craft sessions and gardening.  The annual MSWA Albany Ride is on Saturday 13 March and Mr Sawle is attending this with our students. This is the third year we have supported this great cause.  A map of the ten kilometre course can be found here.

On Monday, we took all the girls over to Day School to the International Women’s Day Breakfast. This was enjoyable time together for us to all show appreciation for what some amazing women are doing in our community and support the work towards gender parity.  It was an early start for some girls, but only a little further than the Dining Hall and all girls enjoyed a lovely warm ham and cheese croissant.  We were fortunate to listen to Bridget Mason, GSG Head Girl from 2019 speak about her varied experiences teaching in Nepal, studying at university and volunteering with disabled surfers and the homeless in Albany. It is very apt timing to stop and reflect on the diversity of experiences women have around our world and to allow our GSG girls to value the opportunities they have here.

Please find the recreation schedule for the remainder of the term here.
