Junior Phys Ed News

It has been a busy year in Junior Physical Education, we have been very fortunate to secure two more grants from Aus Sport to continue our Sporting Schools Program at Burrendah. In Term 1 Coach Ben from the WACA taught the PP, Year 1, 2, and 3 Cricket. This Term the students in Years 3, 4, and 5 have been participating in a Hockey program with Coach Jack from Reds Hockey Club. Jack introduced the students to new fundamental movement skills such as dribbling, trapping, pushing, hitting, and game sense when playing Hockey.

Coaches from Rugby WA came and taught basic Rugby skills to the Year 3, 4, and 5.

The Kindy and Pre-Primary students continued to work on their body management, locomotor, and object control skills, participating in skilled stations and playing minor games.

Mrs Richardson’s year 4 class has been doing a wonderful job mentoring the Pre-Primary students and helping them to improve their skill level.

We have also enjoyed having the Year 11 Lifecare students assist the students with their skills.

Burrendah Primary School was very fortunate to have People on Bicycles come to the school and teach Year 2 students Bike education. BPS was able to secure these lessons through the ‘Your Move’ Grant program. Christina and Ron, the instructors for the sessions were amazing with the students, teaching them how to correctly fit their helmets and practise basic bike safety. Students who couldn’t ride a bike were able to confidently ride by the end of the four weeks and the look on their faces when they accomplished this skill was priceless. A big thank you to People on Bicycles.
